The Great Okanagan Book Sale Returns to Kelowna

If you love books—and love finding a great bargain—the Great Okanagan Book Sale is back in Kelowna this October.
Organized by the Kelowna Friends of the Library, the popular community book sale opens Wednesday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the ICC Parish Hall.
And this year's sale is shaping up to be a big one: organizers have already collected and sorted more than 900 boxes of donated books and other items.
A Great Sale for an Even Better Cause
The Great Okanagan Book Sale is about more than finding your next favourite read.
Proceeds from the sale help the Kelowna Friends of the Library support Okanagan Regional Library programs and facilities, making every book purchased another small investment in our local community.
It's also a wonderful way to give previously loved books a second life rather than leaving them sitting on a shelf—or sending them to waste.
Whether you're searching for novels, children's books, cookbooks, mysteries or something completely unexpected, part of the fun is simply seeing what you discover.
More Than 900 Boxes—and Counting
Preparing a sale of this size takes an enormous volunteer effort. Sorting crews have spent many hours collecting, organizing and preparing donated materials, while other volunteers help empty donation bins, set up the sale, replenish tables and assist shoppers.
The Friends of the Library also accept book donations throughout the year, so your spring cleaning doesn't have to wait for the next sale.
Want to Get Involved?
The organization is still looking for volunteers to help with this year's event, including set-up, cashier and book-replenishment shifts.
It's an easy way to meet people in the community, support our local library system and—perhaps most importantly for book lovers—spend a few hours surrounded by an extraordinary number of books.
Before You Go
The sale takes place at ICC Parish Hall, with the main public entrance located at the Ethel Street end of the hall.
Drivers should enter the parking lot from Sutherland Avenue using the west alley beside the church and exit using the east alley closest to the hall and Ethel Street. Organizers are asking visitors to be particularly cautious during school and daycare drop-off and pick-up times because St. Joseph School and Daycare share access to the property.
Support Local. Find a Great Book.
Whether you donate, volunteer, tell a friend or simply arrive with an empty shopping bag ready to fill, the Great Okanagan Book Sale is a simple way to support an organization doing good work right here in our community.
And with more than 900 boxes to explore, there's a pretty good chance you'll come home with something worth reading.
